Merak Projects
Independent Architectural Practice | Kerala, India | 2020–2023
Where Practice Began
Merak Projects was established in early 2020 by my father, Jacob and me in Kerala, India. Our first project began before the practice officially opened, transforming an unfinished commercial floor into our architectural studio through exterior development, interior design and customised furniture.
Building a Practice
Beginning during the COVID-19 pandemic, our practice grew from its first church renovation commission to residential, commercial and renovation projects. Each project involved balancing client aspirations, budgets, site conditions and environmental considerations.
My work spanned architectural design, technical documentation, client communication, building approvals and site coordination, strengthening my understanding of architecture from concept to delivery.
An Expanding Perspective
In 2023, I moved to Sweden to pursue my Master's at Chalmers University of Technology, expanding my perspective towards urban design, sustainability and strategic spatial planning.
These experiences continue to shape my architectural approach today. Merak Projects now operates on a smaller, home-based scale, with projects primarily managed by my father.
